This program will focus on wildlife rehabilitation for orphaned or injured wildlife.
Our guests will Katie Fallon with the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia near Morgantown, WV and Jessica Andersen with the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center near Boyce, VA.
Katie Fallon, is Executive Director of the ACCA. Katie is an educator, writer, and Certified Professional Bird Trainer. She writes the column "Wingbeats" for Bird Watcher’s Digest and is the author of the nonfiction books "Vulture" (2020) and "Cerulean Blues" (2011), and two books for children. Since the mid-1990s Katie has trained a wide variety of raptors, parrots, and corvids.
Jessica Andersen is the Rehabilitation Manager at the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center. She has worked at BRWC for 9 years, and before that worked at a wildlife rehabilitation facility and sanctuary in Texas. She completed an internship at the Marine Mammal Care Center in San Pedro, CA. Outside of BRWC, she is a board member for the Wildlife Rescue League, a wildlife rehabilitation nonprofit organization in Northern Virginia. Jessica is an avid birder, photographer, and is passionate about wildlife education and animal behavior.
